Round 1: A beautiful start to the morning. We surfed a secret spot so no photos. Shoulder high, strong current, wild waves, and nobody out. Perfect for Boot Camp!
Round 2: Back to Bowls. The winds calmed down so the waves got a lot cleaner. And with all this rain, the water was a lot cleaner than I expected.

We saw 3 monk seals, 3 turtles, and a lot of waves. Nobody out so we had the ocean all to ourselves. It was a lucky day Kato-san!
Two days ago, we drove to the other side of the island, looked at the reefs, and just parked the car and swam out. Zero expectations and I was just hoping to see one tako. We ended up seeing 5, picking up 4, and this one was the biggest one I’ve caught in years.
A big tako like this is very powerful. You don’t want it wrapping around your head because you’ll never get it off. It’s best to keep it away from your body, kill it, and get ready for a lot of tako poke!
