I haven’t been back to Cebu in 20 years so it was interesting to see all the changes. They built this huge shopping mall in the middle of the city. Pretty cool to see but as soon as you step out of the mall, you return to the low income Philippines lifestyle. I just wonder how many people had to give up their land for them to build this mall. And I heard a lot more is coming soon. Anyway, if you like the shopping mall lifestyle, this mall is definitely one of the biggest in the world. I don’t like malls so I spent most of my time exploring the back streets.
The first 2 days were cloudy and raining. There were some villages that totally flooded in Cebu. Then I get the Red Alert of this next storm coming. I booked my flight, got my last massage, and headed to the airport for the long way home.
If you fly Cebu Pacific airlines, expect cancellations and delays. Being on time is unheard of. And if you ever plan to fly to the Philippines from Hawaii, do not take the United Airlines flight that transfers in Guam. There is only a 50 minute layover going and coming back to if your flight is delayed, expect to spend 24 hours in Guam. And if your flight is on time, expect to run to your next boarding gate. It’s not worth the stress at all. Next time I’ll transit in Japan because getting stuck in Japan is a pleasure. Safe travels…
