Boat Mechanics by YouTube

9

I’ve been spending a lot of time working on my projects.  One is to make sure Mayuki is in top shape.  I don’t have the comfort of putting it on a trailer and servicing it, so this is the only way.  I see other boaters walking by and shaking their heads.  They must think I’m crazy.

But I’m not crazy.  I have no other choice.  Either spend thousands and have other people do it, or do it myself and learn in the process.  I went from zero experience in boat mechanics to a YouTube certified Yamaha mechanic.  Haha.

Every 2 years I change the thermostat.  The old one is still good but I change it anyway.  Next week I’m planning to pull Mayuki out and change the timing belt, water pump, anodes, bottom paint, and everything I can possibly think of.  I’m excited!

Thanks to Mayuki, I’ve had so many great memories in the sea.

I kind of miss Bali already.  Surfing Keramas early in the morning was special.  It reminded me of going there with the Bali boys before Keramas was even discovered.  Now it’s very crowded with a very aggressive lineup.  My mentality was to paddle out, don’t talk to anyone, don’t make eye contact, and only catch sets.

By the time the locals figured out I was a visitor catching too many waves, I was done and walking back to my car with a big smile.  It’s hunt or be hunted out there, and I don’t like to be hunted.
