Project Mayuki

3

The final thing to do was to change the steering wheel.  It was frozen and stuck on for 13 years and didn’t want to come off.  Even these pullers didn’t work.

I tried for 3 days.  Pounding it with a hammer, yelling, trying to pull it off, screaming, hitting it, then swearing.  I failed for 3 days in a row.

Finally I get it off!!!  I was so happy that I was jumping around cheering like I just got a 10′ barrel ride.

This steering wheel changes everything.  So much easier to maneuver and looks pretty good too.

Yesterday we decided to go surf a secret spot.  Something different and it always feels good to get away from the crowds.  And I also wanted to test out the steering wheel.

Early mornings have been pretty crowded recently.  I don’t mind crowds at all, but it’s always nice to take a little surf trip.

This was the 2nd time we went out to the ocean and both times, the dolphins greeted us.

Now that Project Mayuki is done, it’s time for the next project.  I’m going to bring this boat and motor back from the dead.  Then the first place I’m taking it is to the Kaneohe sandbar.  I can’t wait for that!

But first things first.  I have to get the trailer back to life.
