Free Portlock!

this is a cool photo. guess where it is? if you live in hawaii, you won’t believe this is portlock. yes, china walls to be exact. it was taken in the 1960’s and i can’t believe there was a beach there. what the heck happened????? where did the beach go???? in the 70’s, big rich developers built million dollar homes on this land and it was hawaii’s richest place to live. that’s when they dug up the reef, built walls, and ruined things. another example of what money can buy. now when i see the hawaiians from molokai protesting development on their sacred land, i totally understand why. seeing photos like this gives me mixed feelings. i was super bummed out because all the houses they built blocked such an awesome view. the only thing i was happy to see in this photo was that VW bug. it has to be a 1950’s baby window. i would love to own one of those again.
thank you maki-san for sending me this cool photo.
