Round 1: Today was a great day to take the kids to the pool for free dive training. They were so excited and so was I. Like anything else, equipment is the most important. I make sure my students have the best gear. Have you ever snorkeled with a foggy mask that leaks water? It’s a nightmare. So starting off with good equipment is the key to make it fun. The more fun it is, the better the kids perform.
Between each dive, we talk about proper technique. How to move your arms and legs with flow. How to clear the snorkel of water. And how to keep calm. The best is to teach this in a pool because there are less distractions than the ocean. No currents, no waves, no jellyfish, and no sharks to worry about.
Once the kids start to feel comfortable, the fun begins. I throw a handful of quarters all round the pool and they go hunting for it. Now that the pool lesson was a success, next time we’re going to the ocean and spear fish. This is the path to survival…
Round 2: Family fun with all the kids and delicious local favorite pupus. Itadakimasu!
