one of the highlights of my traveling experiences has to be diving with the Amasan of japan. this is culture, this is japan, and this is cool. Amasan go way back in history and it’s these abalone divers that introduced the sport of free diving. these two lovely grandma’s are some of the last of the amasan and diving with them was a great experience. these are the reasons why i love to travel. you just don’t know who you will meet, and you just don’t know what you’ll be doing. i never though i’d be diving and laughing with 80 year old grandma’s that can hold their breath longer than me.
love on the rocks is one of my all time favorite songs. i remember my first job in 1980. i was only 13 years old and worked 2 hours everyday after school cleaning classrooms. i’d have my little cassette recorder playing the soundtrack from the movie “The Jazz Singer.” i’d sing along while wiping the chalkboard and mopping the floors. so listening to neil diamond brings back all the great memories of my junior high school days. i’d make $2.15/hour and saved each penny in the bank because my dream was to own a moped. my dream finally came true a year after and ever since then, i learned how to save money and knew the value of each penny. thanks to neil diamond. haha. feb. 16th is soon and i’m getting pretty dam excited!
