had a lot of fun yesterday on our photo shoot in town. the waves were fun, the sun was out, and it was pretty uncrowded. Yossy Motatani was the only goofy footer in the group. he kept on going left at rockpiles and if you surfed out there before, you know how shallow and dangerous it could get.
if you picked the right wave, you could get a great barrel. Nao Sasaki pulling into a south shore barrel!
Tommy Sato has a great sense of humor. always smiling, laughing, and super stoked on surfing. he got some really nice and long waves. good to see him enjoying surfing so much.
I shot photos of Soichiro Kawabata 3 years in a row. the first time was at Pipeline, second was at Bowls, and third time was yesterday at Rockpiles. Next year i think we’re going to shoot at Waimea Bay! super nice and super stoked on surfing!
i want to thank the boys for a great time yesterday morning. good to see you guys catch so many waves. good to see you guys laughing and smiling. good to see some good surfing. hope you enjoy the 741 photos and keep on surfing! aloha.
**also wanted to thank Ota-san and Takashi-san for the all day shooting yesterday. i know it’s hard to follow me around, and i know how hard to understand my english and japanese because i speak so fast. haha. please keep my power spot a secret. i’ve been going there for 33 years of my life and it would kill me to see bus loads of tourists going there everyday. that is my #1 best spot of this island and i hope it stays the way it has been my whole life. had fun all day and hope to see you guys again! aloha.
