Mountains Crying!

306

yesterday was a crazy weather day. every 5 years or so, we get heavy rain like this. i had to go to kailua so drove home around waimanalo to check things out. lots of roads closed, people wet, ice falling from the sky, flooding, and weird things going on. it was a great day to get out and see the dark side of hawaii.

i thought i would see a waterfall or 2. instead, i seen 30-40 waterfalls. the mountains were crying and watching nature at it’s best was amazing. i pulled over, looked up, and just stared until it stopped. waterfalls from the sky! in my lifetime living here, i’ve never seen anything like this before.

you ever seen makapuu like this before? i haven’t. when i took the turn, i thought to myself “oh shit, i have to turn around for sure and go all the way back to town via the pali highway. i was amazed they kept the road open! it was crazy!

and if your from hawaii kai like me, you know where mariners ridge is. i’m pretty sure some of the houses on the bottom were getting flooded. imagine driving home from work and seeing a waterfall breaking over your house?
things supposed to get better as the storm moves away. the water around the whole island is brown and contaminated. if you surf, your hardcore! for me, i’m super bummed because i got my boat ready the other day so i could go diving. it will take at least 7-10 days for the water to get back to normal. can’t surf? can’t dive? i might go CRAZY!!!! i wish i could snap my fingers and escape to the maldives!
