yesterday was a great experience for me. getting invited to speak at such an elite school was an honor. Mid-Pacific Institute is a beautiful school and amazing school. as i stepped out of my car, Heidi was there waiting for me and escorted me to this historic building where i was to talk in front of a 6th grade class, and two 8th grade classes.
i didn’t get the chance to take a photo of the 6th grade class, but here is the first 8th graders that took the time to listen to me. Kurashige-Sensei is an amazing teacher that’s been teaching Japanese up at Mid-Pac for the past 29 years.
this are the second 8th graders. these kids are Hawaii’s future.
as i walked out of the building, i was amazed by the view of Diamond Head. i don’t think these kids know how lucky they are to be taught in such a historic building, with a billion dollar view like this.
To: Kurashige-Sensei and her wonderful students,
I had a great time talking to you all. Thank you for sitting quietly and listening to my stories about Tohoku. I am very happy to meet you all and hope you all have wonderful careers ahead of you. Study hard in school, practice your Japanese everyday, and dream BIG! I hope to see you again and hope you have a wonderful spring break ahead. Enjoy life, appreciate every thing and everyone around you. And please remember, “We Are One!”
Jya, mata ne.
