our cooks name was Boy. he would cook breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks for all 12 of us, and 6 of the boat crew. every time i passed by the kitchen, i got out a plate, scooped some rice, and ate some of his special padang meals he made for the boat crew. most of it was all red because of the chili peppers. spice, but the best!
reika and asako were the sashimi/poke cutters. i taught reika how to cut sashimi on the first night, then after that, she made the platters every night. these girls worked hard!
i’m still tripping out on the surfing level out at macaroni’s those 2 days the young guns showed up. i’m sure everybody got inspired and everybody learned what’s coming in the new generation. it was pretty impressive.
2 days ago, i jumped on a train at yokohama heading for hiratsuka. it was full with salarymen and i happened to sit down next to this man. after a few train stops, he turned to me and said “hey, i know you!” i looked at him thinking “oops, i don’t remember your name? or even who you are?” he told me that he seen me on tv three days ago on a hawaii tv program. i had no idea what he seen but i’m guessing it was the tv show that was shot in hawaii a few months ago. after i got off the train, i thought to myself “i better watch what i do nowadays.” this world is smaller than i thought.
anyway, going to surf. oops, i mean, going to work! see you in the water.
