surfed for 3 hours this morning and felt so good to get in the water. the water is super warm now in hawaii and a wetsuit is not needed anymore. i just might wear one to stop me from getting any darker than i already am. people are freaking how dark i am but what do you expect for being on a boat for 11 days? surfed, at oxtail soup, waiola shave ice, then did my evening sunset harley ride. this is my life and i’m glad to return to it.
Ikeda-san is from saitama, japan. he owns a successful flower business that has been in operation for the past 95 years. at 60 years old, he’s the third generation of Ikeda Flowers. i was super stoked to take him surfing for the first time. we caught so many waves and had lots of fun. after we surfed, we talked about things. something Ikeda-san told me really stuck in my mind. we were talking about economies of countries and he said that “if you have a good product, and good people that treat others good, you will overcome anything.” that sank in my head big time! it is so true. yes, some counties have good products, but not so good people, other countries have not so good products and good people. japan might be down right now, but with excellent products and excellent people, they will succeed forever. i’m going to implement this thinking into my business. i’m going to supply the best product, and treat people as best as possible. i already been trying to do that, but after today, i’m going to try harder. i’m super stoked to meet such a successful down to earth person that taught me something very important. thank you Ikeda-san for the great surfing, and great teaching. see you in november!
as you know, i love japanese food. and as you know, i love yamari shirasu. kimura-san sent us a big box to take to mentawai but it got taken away in malaysia customs. we were all bummed. so once i got off the boat, i called and ask for some shirasu to take back to hawaii. next day, it was delivered. now, i’m eating shirasu everyday in hawaii. so happy! thank you kimura-san for the oishi shirasu and see you in wakayama soon!
