Lost in Translation/Tempura/Geisha

good morning. 6am here in steaming hot tokyo. time to get up, pack, and head toward the next low pressure and the beach. going to be a 11 hour drive but i’m looking forward to it because long drives is japanese surfing culture and i’ve been doing it for over 20 years. i only have a few days left here so better get moving. oh, i went to shonan to pick up my surfboards and it was good seeing matsuo. he’s always like a brother to me.

driving in tokyo yesterday was frustrating. there was so much traffic and it was so hot. i was getting sunburned through the windows and getting all heated up while the cold a/c was blowing on my body. felt kind of weird. 4 hours of that and i had enough. i got a little lost. why?

because these navigations aren’t always accurate. and when you can’t read japanese, it doesn’t help at all. but i guess the more i drive around tokyo by myself, the more i will learn. ganbaru!

i came back to my dream hotel, Okura. then sat in the bathtub for 10 minutes, then walked downstairs to meet Inaida-san and Yuki-san. look what i was seated into. OMG! TEMPURA!!!! that’s exactly what i want to eat.

and this is exactly what i wanted to drink. can you believe i ate a sukiya 380 yen or $4 cheap breakfast down the street, then eating this the same night? i feel like i’m living in a fantasy world. and i’m starting to love it. haha.

you sit down on the counter, you order what you want, and they master chef cooks it to perfection. i wish we had these in hawaii. wait, i’ll take that back. even if we had these in hawaii, it would be too expensive for me to go anyway. i bet one piece costs like $10. ouch.

getting served like a king by these 2 lovely geisha girls. haha.
want to thank Inaida-san for another wonderful tokyo experience. surf hawaii for 2 weeks/month, then eat good food in japan for 2 weeks/month. can i join your club? haha.
