this is the infamous cove in wakayama. i went there for the first time 2 years ago after i heard about what they do to the dolphins. honestly, i was really upset after i seen the fisherman killing all those poor dolphins but going there really woke me up. woke me up to reality. i wasn’t so upset about the dolphin killings anymore, i was more upset on how the world media only showed one side of the story. the side that made japanese people look bad. taiji is a small town in wakayama that is one of the most beautiful place in the world. on a normal day, it’s so peaceful, the kids are running around so happy, and you couldn’t imagine what actually takes place. for me, going there made me understand that everywhere in this world, people have their culture. thousands of years of culture. and who are we to judge other peoples culture and force them to change it? yeah, there’s got to be a better way to do what they do. but there’s also got to be a better way if killing cows and pigs in america too. and a better way of killing dogs in the philippines, and monkeys in china. it’s just that we don’t see that and if we did, i’m sure that would stir up some controversy. i’m not saying what’s right or wrong. i’m just saying that there are so much culture differences in this world and we just can’t look at one side and judge it…..
the bottom line is before you judge people and their culture, please take a look at both sides. don’t be so narrow minded and judge something from the what the media portrays. look what happened to poor michael jackson. the media made him, and destroyed him. that’s sad…. take that into mind if you decide to watch “THE COVE”. it’s a movie coming out this month about activists going into japan undercover and video taping the culture. only one side of it….
i wanted to thank kimura-san and kinsan for taking me to taiji, or better known as “the cove”. it was that 1 day trip that changed my way of thinking. not only of the dolphin controversy, but about everything in life. since then, i’ve never judged anything or anybody until i heard both sides of the story. and i hope you don’t too….
