i had such a fun day with the Ueno family. they come to hawaii every year and we go surfing and driving around the island. another year, and another happy day in paradise!
when the Ueno family comes, Romy’s is a must! Romy’s has been there since 1978 and is the most crowded shrimp house for a reason. it takes 1.5 hours to get there, 2 hours of waiting, and 5 minutes of eating. every minute worth it! i wish we had one of these in town. Romy’s in waikiki? that would be an instant success!
today was the longest line i’ve ever seen. from the back of the sign, it takes over 2 hours to actually get your plate. but you know what? it’s worth the wait! i usually don’t like shrimp, but this one i love!
order the #1 off the menu. just substitute the shrimp for prawns. wash your hands and get ready to get dirty! the best shrimp on the island. try it and i’ll guarantee you will love it!
Ueno-san plays in a cool rock band, races ducati motorcycles, and loves hawaii. Kaoru-san is his wife who’s been surfing only a few times but rides the wave the longest. Mari-chan is 13 and surfed today for the first time by herself. Ai-chan is 9 years old and did a great job surfing today. this family is one of the coolest families i ever met. super kind, super genuine, and super stoked on hawaii. when ever they come, i feel like one big family enjoying this beautiful island. hope you enjoy the rest of your trip! aloha
