it was a long trip but finally got up here to sendai. it’s so good to see the christmas lights and Kiku-chan. another mission with very precious people. Matsu, Saito-san, Kiku-chan, Kanae-san, Toko-san, and Miki-chan. it’s 2am and i don’t know what to do. jet lag at its finest. i must have slept only a few hours in the airplane. then on the train ride up here, i was scared to fall asleep because i knew that i wouldn’t be able to wake up. and if i missed my stop, i’d end up in aomori. it’s pretty cold here but the people around me warm me up. it seems like i haven’t been to japan for a long time even though it’s my 8th time this year. i love this place and i love the people. tomorrow we will be driving around ishinomaki and we’re hoping to see improvements. i have a few hours to sleep so better try. but before, i’d just like to say something to Kiku-chan. hey Kiku-chan, it is always so nice to see you. your strength gives us power. you are like family to us and you keep reminding me how precious life is. i hope to see you again sometime soon. take care and keep warm. **check out the final day of the pipeline masters. i was in the airplane throughout the whole contest. glad we there is some amazing video to make me feel like i didn’t miss anything. awesome and exciting surfing! and congratulations to Joel Parkinson! it’s about time somebody else besides kelly slater wins the world title. great for the sport of surfing!
