organizing a photo shoot takes a lot of effort. i have 4 kids i wanted to shoot this winter season but the weather and waves weren’t cooperating. since one of them leaves tomorrow, today was the only chance. so i was skype, viper, line, and phoning these kids to get them together. we all met at rocky point at 8:45 and took it from there. lucky i know how good these kids surf so getting good photos of them is pretty easy for me. i think i shot rocky point for 45 minutes and got so many good photo.
meet Hinako and Kaito Kurokawa. a brother and sister combo out of osaka, japan. one champion already and the other in the making. such good kids and so cool to see them getting better and better. just their personalities will get them a long way ahead. so respectful and so kind. good parenting!
Kaito is getting better and better. good style and a lot of power. i like the way he draws long lines in his surfing. strong and lots of spray. TSSC board shaped my Matchi.
Hinako is already japan’s amateur champion. i bet you this girl will win some JPSA pro contests real soon. TSSC board shaped by Matchi.
somebody should have put a hidden camera on this kid when he was 10 years old and followed him around as he makes his way to the top of the world. Shun Murakami is cute, funny, quiet, and talented. he is also this years japan amateur champion and is making his mark on the north shore this season. up until last year, not too many people knew Shun, but after this north shore season, everybody in the world will know that little japanese kid named Shun Murakami. and let me say that Shun is one of the nicest kids you will ever meet. another classic example of good parenting.
last year Shun wasn’t doing this. now he’s a major threat to the worlds best groms!
Keoni Yan is from tahiti. met him a few years ago and another great kid. comes from a very supportive family and friends and another great example of great parenting.
this kid caught my eye 2 seasons ago and still catches my eye today. this is tahiti’s next generation!
rocky point started getting big so i packed up my camera and headed to pipe/backdoor/off the wall. another great story and photos coming tomorrow. for now, i’m going to end my day with the best japanese food in hawaii, GAKU! i worked hard today so i deserve a drink. kanpai!
