Toyota vs. Ford

201

good morning, 5:30 am on this cold north wind wednesday. north shore is up but so are the onshore winds. all i can see now is stormy whitewash. town looks super clean and there is still some swell. i bet diamond head is all time right now. the boys are coming to town. we’re either going to surf or dive, or do both. i’m glad i have a 3mm dove wetsuit because it’s going to be cold out in the ocean. see you in the water!!

hawaii is small so rumors go around pretty fast. i’ve been hearing of this delicious asian nabe restaurant for a long time. i went 3x already and got turned away because there were too many people waiting in line. last night, i went down early and waited, waited, and waited. and after eating the nabe, i would have waited 3 hours to eat that. it was so good. and to eat it with friends like kinsan, kimura-san, atsuko-san, yumie-chan, and hayato, it made it even better. thanks guys for the wonderful dinner!!! no blogs on where this is please. secrets are better kept secrets….

the shave ice at the end was the winner. i’m going back there really soon!!! by the way, i seen yumie-chan get some really good waves this morning at pipeline. she was the only bodyboarder chick out early morning. where are all the bb girls?
**yesterday i seen kimura-san’s car at leftovers so i pulled over. he just got out of the water and opened his door so jumped in the other side drivers seat and hid. he didn’t see me get in the car so as he was changing in the back, i said “HEY!!” he looked at me and freaked out!!! i felt bad after because he could have had a heart attack. i surely would have if that happened to me. sorry kimura-san. next time please be careful when you open your door because it could have been somebody else… haha…

**one of the things i learned in business college is that when one thing goes down, other things go up. one classic example is toyota. they recalled something like 4.2 million cars because of a problem of the accelerator pedal getting stuck. shit, that’s a pretty dam major problem. the money it will cost them for the part, to train the mechanics how to fix it, and to send out all the recall notices will run in the millions of dollars. it’s a big problem for toyota and i hope they can figure out a way to get consumer confidence back….

so as toyota sales fell 16 percent in the month of january largely due to the recall, ford’s sales were up 25 percent. business is scary and you just have to stay on top of everything. and when things go bad, you have to get back up, shake it off, think positive, and move forward. companies like that make it in this world and i’m pretty confident toyota will be back at number 1 soon….
