it was 2 and a half years ago when this little grom came to hawaii. he was 8 years old. kairi noro is from osaka and i call him “The Wild One.” i remember pushing him into waves at kewalo’s and also seen him catch his first wave at velzyland on the north shore. this kid has so much energy and i can’t stop laughing at his personality. i haven’t met another kid in this world like kairi. it’s his personality and determination to become a world champion that’s pushing his surfing day by day. i’ve been watching his surfing progress at an astonishing rate that’s leaving his 10 year old and under competitors behind. yeah, kairi’s only 10 years old and is winning pretty much everything he enters in california. the NSSA had this to say about him:
Kairi Noro fresh off the plane from Japan came out swinging in the Mini Grom division with a 3-event sweep. Noro displayed his incredible talent ripping HB???s peaks with speedy snaps and good cutbacks on the reform section. Noro has been a dominator in the water winning seven straight events plus the 2009-10 Southwest Conference title.
like i said 2 years ago in a blog i wrote: watch this kid. he’s going to make it big. he already is and i’m keeping my eyes on his road to his dreams…
