good morning. 5 am and small waves again. i’m jet lagged. haha. it feels like dinner time. but it’s ok, i’ll just go cook a steak right now. going for a surf, then a surf again, then a surf again. tomorrow is the big rip curl grom search so i’m going to see how the groms are practicing at kewalos. i’ll probably paddle out and drop in on a few of them. i just have the make sure they know how to respect their elders. if they kick out behind me, i’ll never drop in on them again. if they make a mad face, i’ll drop in on them again. and if they say “hey, hey, hey,” i’ll drop in on them forever. haha… the kids must learn that nobody gives a shit who they are when they are traveling around the world. and if i have to teach them that, i will. why? because that’s how i learned….
i heard from a friend that kaori-chan went diving. so i checked her blog. i was sooo stoked for her. but yet, i was jealous. haha. i want to dive soooo bad….
“give somebody a fish, they will eat for a day. teach somebody how to fish, they will eat for a lifetime.” ever heard of that saying? and the cool thing is all you need is fins, a mask, and a spear. go-kaori-chan!!!
this is called an ishidai. these fish are like gold!! they don’t eat bait so you can’t fish for them. the only way to catch them is in a net, which to me is cheating. or to go into their world and out smart them. if you know how these fish act in their environment, you will know how to catch them. kaori-chan knows and now she can catch dinner when ever she feels like it. to me, that’s awesome…. i’m super proud of her and i’m sure kyle is too…
