i was watching the south swell fill in this morning. the waves looked super good but when i got a phone call to pick shells from my friend Brent, i jumped on it! the waves will always be there, but the chance to look for sunrise shells won’t.
this is a sunrise shell. the shell only found in hawaii that is in high demand. i’ve been looking on the beaches for the past 10 years for this shell and never found one. today, i found my first one in less than 10 minutes.
i wasn’t on the boat with surfers today, i was on the boat with doctors, dentists, and scientists. i was on the bottom of the education pole. haha. kind of felt like a baby learning his ABC’s. but want to thank Brent for inviting me along! it was a super good experience with super great professionals!
i met Dr. Brent on a free dive trip to palau. i was laughing so hard when 5 sharks ate his first ono he ever speared there. i even took video of that. but today, he got to laugh at me as he brought up some nice sunrise shells. i was so jealous!
this was my catch. i found some cool sand dollars too! super stoked and can’t wait to go again. i’m going to wash it out and stare at it all night long.
tomorrow the waves on the south shore should be pumping! i’m surfing 2 rounds and going to enjoy this perfect endless summer. have a wonderful evening!
