Oyster Pickers….

215

good morning. i’m in surfing mode so please don’t call me unless it’s something to do with surfing. i’ve been eating healthy and exercising for the past few days so my mind is on getting barreled. going to look for some now. have a nice day….

after we come back in from picking oysters. we tie up the boat and start unloading the gear. naoka drops the weight belt into the water. it’s pretty deep but i wasn’t about to go in and get it. so naoka jumps off the side. he dives down, disappears for a while, and comes back up with the weight belt. to tell you the truth, i was pretty impressed. he’s come a long way in free diving….. check out his ass in the bottom left. haha…. dropping the weight belt is ok. but if he dropped the oysters into the water, he would have been in deep trouble. haha…

speaking of oysters, get this story. after i surfed kaifu 2 days ago, i felt like exercising so i grabbed my fins and mask and jumped into the water. i took my small knife too just in case if a shark attacked me. anyway, i was swimming around going in and out of the tetra pods checking out all the fish and wildlife. then i come across this net filled with some oysters. what? eeh? what is this? yeah, i was really talking to myself under water. i grabbed the bag, then i dropped it back because i didn’t want people to think it was mine and i went looking for oysters. then i thought again, rubbish in the ocean is no good so i grabbed it again and took it to shore. can you imagine how nervous i was carrying the bag out of the water holding my little knife? if a police man pulled up, i would be in jail. do you think they would believe my story? hello officer, i found this. no way… i wouldn’t believe it. anyway, i ended up giving the bag and oysters away to my local surfer friend. i didn’t want anything to do with it…. then as i was driving home, i was wondering how that bag got there??? did somebody drop it earlier in the day? i’ve never seen anybody diving there before. ummm… i guess that will always be a mystery….
i wish i can make friends with the local fishermen down there because i seen some amazing stuff underwater. i could have filled up that big bag with oysters and an assortment of fish in 30 minutes if i got the green light. kurushi means “suffering.” ahhhh…..
