some crazy news going on now. can you believe japan’s national debt is Y1,000,000,000,000,000? or in dollars, it’s $10.4 trillion!!! OMG! so for those of you who owe a few thousand dollars on your credit card, don’t feel so bad.
other crazy news? can you believe that tokyo electric can’t stop the flow of radioactive groundwater from flowing into the pacific ocean? and no, this is not from recent leaks, it’s actually been leaking since 3/11. and still is. OMG! to all my surfer friends that are surfing in fukushima now, please be careful.
more crazy news? a woman snorkeling at a beach on maui got attacked by a shark. the shark bit off her arm. that is the 7th shark attack in hawaii this year! OMG! to all of you who seen the movie “Jaws,” i think “Jaws” is back!
some good news? i can’t believe the Southern All Stars are coming back after a 5 year break! they are one of my favorite japanese bands ever! if i’m in japan during the live concert dates, i’m going for sure!
when i first went to japan in 1992, there was a very popular drama playing on tv. it was called “Zutto Anata ga Suki Datta.” it was such a creepy drama of a man stalking a lady. i couldn’t understand any japanese at that time but i got hooked to this drama and watched it every thursday night at 8-9pm on tbs tv. after watching that creepy drama, i got hooked on japanese dramas and that’s the way i learned how to speak japanese. i’d be in my room watching dramas from morning till evening memorizing line after line. then i’d go out and use it. made a lot of mistakes, but it was ok because i tried. then the theme song from that movie was called Nami da no Kiss sung by the Southern All Stars. i even memorized every single word of this song back then. i didn’t know the meaning of the song, but i memorized it and even sang it a few times at karaoke after 30 beers. haha. check out one of my most favorite songs ever!
