good morning. this is hotel depot in the heart of padang city, indonesia. well, i should say, this was hotel depot that was in the heart of padang city. i’ve had so many great memories there. it was a transit hotel for me for many years. i must have stayed there for 10 nights, drank in the karaoke bar 10 nights, played pool downstairs, and got 20 great massages on the 2nd floor. after the earthquake last year, i heard it was flattened. so the last time i was there, i had to see it with my own eyes. gosh, there was nothing there…. kind of gave me chicken skin….
next is the ambacang hotel in padang city. i stayed there too, drank beers by the pool, and had a few great massages. this one didn’t get flattened, but pretty much got hit hard…
when i passed by this one, i was looking on the 4th floor where my room was. this brought chicken skin on my already chicken skin…
would i go back to padang again? yeah, i did. would i stay in padang again? yeah, probably. i’m sure the local people are still having nightmares from that crazy day but when you go there and see everybody moving on with their lives, it makes you happy. thousands of people died but that ain’t taking the soul out of padang. great place, great culture, and great people…
