i was at the honolulu airport last week thinking how the heck was i going to do work and stuff without internet? so i call up AT&T and ask for my options. they tell me “you can buy a data plan for $30 for a month. then keep you hawaii phone number and use it, but it will cost $2.50/minute.” ok, i order the data plan, and i told myself “don’t answer or use the phone!”
then once i got to taiwan, it worked perfectly everywhere i went. then in japan, even better. what happens is my phone picks up the best signal in that area. some carriers in japan are good in some areas, bad in others, especially in okinawa. but my phone takes signal off the strongest antenna in the area so sometime i’m on Docomo, and sometimes i’m on Softbank.
Softbank for the majority of the time, and when it doesn’t catch, it switches automatically to Docomo. cool yeah? so from now on, i’m going to buy international data plans when ever i travel. then use line, viber, or skype to make calls. welcome to the high digital tech world. i love it because it’s so convenient and so cheap!
what do i do on small days? longboard! as long as i’m riding a wave, i’m very happy!
Yashin was my bodyguard in bali. where ever we went, nobody wanted to mess with us.
and i get this question a lot: “where is the best diving place you’ve ever been too?” my answer will always be “Maldives!” it was just too amazing to explain what i seen in that underwater world. speechless!
anyway, work continues for me. feel fresh and feel like i have the best job in the world. every night i come home and tell myself “wow, today was FUN! i can’t wait to do it again!” i teach people how to surf, and people teach me how to become a better person. by meeting all these wonderful people everyday, it makes me want to learn more, do more, and enjoy life more. try it and i’m sure you will like it too!
