good morning. typhoon 12 once again changed its course. i’m watching it like a hawk. got a ticket, my bags are packed, but just waiting to see what airport to land in. i’m so confused!!! i’ll probably be checking the forecast all morning long. but first, i’m going surfing! have a nice day!!!
**when ever i travel, i meet the most amazing people. we pulled up to ht’s in the mentawai’s one evening and this guy was getting the best barrels of the day. we paddle out and were greeted in a friendly fashion. he introduced himself as phil. from florida, phil goodrich is his name and after talking story with him, i was fascinated by his lifestyle. he travels around the world by himself for months out of the year. he stayed for months at nias last year, and is staying at ht’s for months this year. he’s an artist, traveler, surfer, and a really nice guy. when i got back to hawaii, i received an email from phil. and what he wrote about our crew was “most polite pros ever.” it was weird how i was thinking the same thing about them. we clicked, we surfed, and we had one of the best sessions ht’s can offer.
phil is now at a camp somewhere in northern sumatra working as a guide. the camp only holds 4 people and is situated in a pristine area with empty barrels and an abundance of fish. my eyes are on that camp for next year and if everything works out, 3 other lucky people will get to experience it with me. stay tuned…
