10 years ago, we surfed this awesome river mouth in shikoku. the waves were as perfect as can be, the vibe was good, and everybody got barreled. this past trip, i surfed with local surfer kishimoto-san. i was pretty stoked he remembered me from back then. kishimoto-san is a prime example of a super cool local surfer….
kishimoto-san runs a local izakaya called Benkei. if you go there, try the katsuo tataki w/salt. the best in japan! thank you kishimoto-san for the great food and great memories!!!

and speaking of more great memories, check this photo i found on rikiyo’s blog. noboru-san is on the left. a super cool ibaraki local i met in bali 17 years ago. we’ve had some pretty crazy memories both in and out of the water. hey noboru-san, do you remember those epic padang padang 6-8′ days with just our group? no internet and no cel phones back then so the crowds were thin. and remember those arak nights in the sari club? shit, that could of been us blown up in there. i got to make it up to ibaraki to visit you. we have some funny stories to reflect on. ganti? budin? bol? haha… hope to see you soon!! and the guy on the right is okinawan islander kazubo-san. a true okinawan….
