i met takashi taniguchi in miyazaki 20 years ago. i remember i was all drunk and walked into a smoky restaurant looking for my friends. there was takashi-san cooking up jidori. he greeted me with a friendly smile and come to find out, he wasn’t only a chicken cooker, he was one of japan’s top pro surfers. a really good surfer, a really cool guy, and a really kind man. it was nice to see you again takashi-san….
last night was the first time i drank longer than omine-san. usually him and kazubo-san are the last one standing at the end of the night but at 2am, he was gone. come to find out, he ran away because the waves were going to be good in the morning. i paddled out at 6:30 am and he was already out surfing. smart man…. oh, check out his tshirt. CLUB FEMME NU…. haha…
club femme nu is one of the most popular strip club in the world. and it happens to be right in the heart of honolulu. ala moana to be exact….
i was sitting on the wall at sunabe hungry and thirsty. kyomi-san was really nice to give me andagi, or okinawan doughnuts. i ate one and my mouth was so dry that i had a hard time swallowing. then she came and gave me this drink and told me it’s an okinawan drink called shikwasa. i love okinawa so i thought i would love this drink. i took a big sip, and almost choked. sweet, sour, bitter? i can’t explain the taste. i still don’t know if i like it or not? but i want to thank kyomi-san for being so kind…
hokulea is my favorite restaurant in the world. it’s a place to meet old friends, and to make new friends. if it wasn’t for this place, i’d have 100 less friends in this world… i want to say thank you to hokulea, and thank you to the wonderful staff that always look after me, and always make sure my drink is high tide….
