another beautiful day here in hawaii. woke up early, the waves were small, so i went out on my boat to catch some food. it was such a great day to be in the ocean. 7:30am to 3:30pm out in the sun enjoying surfing and diving in hawaii! saiko!
right when we left the harbor, i seen some divers in the channel. i thought to myself, “these guys are going to get run over by boats if they don’t have a buoy.” i made a mistake. they weren’t divers, they were dolphins! a huge school of dolphins playing around in the crystal clear blue water.
seeing dolphins makes me super happy. usually i pass by and go on my way, but today there was a person on my boat that didn’t swim with dolphins before.
so i tell Maki-san “get in the water!” she jumps in, she takes some photos, and i’m waiting to see it! i could hear her through her snorkel saying “omg, omg, omg!” haha. what a lucky day!
watched them mating, watch them swimming with their babies, and watched them just cruising around. it was so calm, so quiet, and so peaceful.
it still blows my mind that people eat these beautiful creatures. “hey guys, let’s go barbecue a dolphin!” i don’t think so.
after the dolphin session, it was time to take care of business. had some fish to catch so i suited up and went underwater. seen an aggressive 8′ shark come to my spot after i speared the big uhu. then went to another spot to get some menpachi’s and kole’s. i took what i needed, and left. 2 years ago, i’d fill up my cooler with fish. now, i’m much smarter and much more eco friendly. just take what you need and leave the rest alone.
then since my boat was in the water, i went to pick up Inaida-san and Yuki-san for a great afternoon surf session! the waves were soooo beautiful! and the surfing was even better!
what another awesome day. tomorrow same thing? i’ll bet you a hundred dollars that the dolphins will be there same place and same time. going to sleep with a big smile on my happy face! good night.
