on my recent trip to mexico, we each had to get a fishing license before we could go out and spear fish. i thought that was a great idea and wish we had the same system here in hawaii.
so i was legally entitled to spear some big game fish and that’s what i did. mexico is a great place to go spearfishing because there are huge fish and not too many sharks. i can’t wait to go again.
picked up the new issue of Free Surf Magazine.
super stoked to see my nephews representing major surf companies like billabong and promoting a good hawaiian surfers image. here is Josh Moniz throwing big man sprays!
then flip a few pages and come to Seth Moniz getting a stand up barrel at backdoor. good face, good style, and good photo. we worked on fixing Seth’s facial expressions barrel riding in bali 5 years ago. all the hard work paid off.
then flip a few more pages and see Micah Moniz doing a sic grab rail air! Micah is the biggest and oldest of the boys. a great surfer, a great brother, a great nephew, and a pipeline threat. watch out for Micah to get the barrel of the year at Pipeline sometime soon.
surfing is moving forward. my nephews are finally in the international spotlight just how i predicted when they were in their diapers. every photo i see, ever story i hear, and every time i see these kids, it makes me really proud to be their uncle. and it makes me really proud to see them represent hawaiian surfing as a tight family. and sister Kelia Moniz just sent me an email this morning telling me the news on a trip to Japan at the end of this month? wow!
