i had such a great time in tsukiji market on my last trip to japan. it’s always been a dream to go there to experience the worlds busiest fish market. i would love to go again!

i was wondering what they do with all these styrofoam coolers? there was a huge mountain of it and i’m sure it’s like this everyday.

if you go to tsukiji, eating sushi at 6am in the morning is a must. but expect to wait in long lines. this place was a 2 hour wait.

1500 yen or $15 for my amazing tsukiji breakfast.

then walked around the streets and seen some cool stuff.

it amazes me how hard people work. peeling shrimp one by one everyday for years and years. and it was freezing cold too!
photo 3
pretty fresh jumbo shrimp.

the fish market side opens to local restaurant buyers from 6am. then opens to tourists at 9am. i’m not a tourist so i snuck in at 7am to check things out. luckily i’m japanese and can blend in. haha.

i was amazed on watching the fishermen clean the fish. it’s definitely a place i could hang out every morning if we had one in hawaii. i wouldn’t even mind working at tsujiki market someday.
well, looking at my 2014 calendar and trying to block a week out of every month to travel. i miss backpacking and experiencing cool things like this. can’t wait to start traveling again in 2014!
