good evening. gosh, i think i still have a headache from last nights awesome party. it was a really memorable day in yugawara and i’m glad i came from hawaii because if you weren’t there, you pretty much missed out on spectacular surfing in the middle of typhoon 14 and a party night to remember forever….
it takes a lot of people to make things happen. yo-chan on the left is pretty much the boss in yugawara. if it wasn’t for him, the contest couldn’t have happened. we had 4 points running next to each other pretty much using the whole beach. ALL DAY LONG. that’s like trying to run a contest from ala moana bowls to kaisers. impossible? not if you know yo-chan… on the right is tokura-san. tokura-san has been running Dove Wetsuits for the past 35 years and if you seen all the support at the beach yesterday, you would see the power he has. people from hokkaido to miyazaki showed up. even from niijima and hawaii. that says a lot…
as for the waves? look for yourself. typhoon 14 was a few miles outside of that set. we scored all day long!!!
i don’t think any other surf company in japan has this much history. 35 strong years of experiences, 35 happy years of friends…
i was walking around taking photos. this was the judge tent for point D. imagine surfing in a contest and having famous pro surfers judge you? i would be nervous. rikiya higa, sekiya, numajiri, kame, hayato maki, and naoto suzuki. after i looked at this photo, i thought to myself that dove has the most versatile professional team in the world….
well, gotta head to haneda now and jump on my flight. today is the first ever international flight to hawaii on JAL and i’m going to be part of history…. see you back in hawaii as the next 20′ swell rolls in on wednesday. what timing….[:?????$B!x(B???:]
photo by masahiko yoshioka. this is one of yesterday’s winners. Go-Ryota!!!
over a thousand of photos were taken so stay tuned for galleries and youtube action really soon…
