i was eating at a chinese restaurant last week. i opened my fortune cookie for desert and this was my fortune.

of the thousand or so fortune cookies i’ve opened in my lifetime, this quote meant the most to me. it made me really think about things. yes, i sometimes worry about money and the only reason is because i want to retire at an early age and be able to support myself everybody around me. so sometimes in my life i overwork myself for that reason. so opening up this fortune made me realize that yes, the best things in life are free. the ocean is free, the air is free, surfing is free, diving is free, and most important, family and friends are free. i’m going to go back to focus on the free things in life for now and keep my mind off worrying about money. that way, i’ll enjoy my life even more and appreciate things more. this quote is going to be posted on my computer to keep reminding me of my priorities in life. so if you read this, don’t quit your job. just enjoy more the things in life that are free!
