josh moniz pulling into pipe? it was great seeing the kids charge today. you have to put your time in at pipe/backdoor to figure out the most dangerous wave in the world. and if any of these kids want to become world champion, they have to win at pipe!!!
the moniz kids are just too nice. they paddle out to spots and let people from other countries snake their waves. i can’t handle even watching that. so when ever i surf, i tell the kids, “hey, sit by me!” they look at me as if i’m crazy. no i’m not! every time seth caught a wave, he’d wait in the inside. i look at him and say, “get your ass out here!” i’m just teaching the kids what their father taught me. i was taught by tony moniz to go out to the lineup and catch sets. then if you want to fool around later, go surf diamond head in the evening….

my sister was so excited about shooting today. after i came in from surfing, i looked for her at the billabong house. she was gone. nobody was there. so i call her and guess what? she took the kids to rocky point for a photo session… with my camera??? oh my gosh….
so i jump in my car and head to rocky point. the waves were going off!! the 4 moniz boys were out there and i had a blast watching them surf! their all getting good surfing big waves. that’s important because if you want to represent hawaii, you better be able to surf big waves!!!!
