here is the medical building at the NHCC. it’s the hospital for the kids and this is where all the medicine is stored. i had lunch with some of the other teachers one day and they all agreed that if it wasn’t for the NHCC, 95% of the kids wouldn’t be alive today. and 95% of the 1000 kids they are supporting is a big number. you do the math.

education is key. learning the language is just important as learning the culture. this is the music class. so cute watching these kids playing these amazing cambodian instruments.

some of the money donated goes to computers. they just got wifi a few months ago and now the kids can keep up to date with technology. as you can see, there still aren’t enough computers for each child. the NHCC goal is to have a computer per child. i hope it happens soon.

this whole world is really uneducated on the topic of HIV. so was i before i showed up in cambodia. now, i understand a whole lot more. but the thing i learned most was “HIV or no HIV, we are all human beings and should be treated equally.” it wasn’t these kids choice to get HIV, they were born with it.

this is the building for volunteers. every morning a block of ice gets dropped off. you put it in your cooler and that is your refrigerator.

i was wondering how you grab this with your bare hands?

and if you’re a teacher or volunteer, your mom isn’t here to take care of you. you take care of yourself. a great place to become independent.

this was my bed. see the flowers a little girl gave me. it brightened up my room, and also my day!

i never thought the day would come when i see my younger brother Davis find his place. he’s been all over the world living and experiencing a lot of things. but once he passed through the NHCC, he knew it was the place he’s been searching for. the kids love him and he loves the kids. his passion to help these innocent kids truly inspires me. to see him waking up early every morning making his rounds playing with the kids before school was cool to see. and it goes on until night. i hope my family and friends go and visit Davis sometime soon to see what an amazing person he is. i’m totally speechless right now.
