good morning. yesterday was a great day off for me. i felt like i jumped into my tv and entered the discovery channel or national geographic channel. what we seen in one day takes a lifetime for the majority of the world to experience. kyle, kathy, and i headed out to the deeeeeeep blue water and encountered fish, birds, and sharks. i checked my dive log on my watch and recorded 53 total dives with the average dive at 50′ with 1 minute 24 seconds average per dive.
here’s the math.
50′ deep one way so 100′ down and up per dive. that’s a total of 5,300′ or 1,615 meters of diving. include the swimming in current and multiple drifts, i’d say i swam 10,000′ or over 3000 meters.
i held my breath for more than 1.5 hours.
was i tired driving home? yes. did i sleep good. no, i made a video that kept me up late. the good thing is that my body and mind feels 100%. my body feels like i can swim to molokai, and my mind is so at peace that nothing will bother me today. ahhh… diving rules!!!
kyle and i were looking for big fish and all of a sudden, birds from all angles started dive bombing around us. it was a discovery channel moment. imagine seeing a bird dive deep with their eyes open, eat fish, and swim around before going back to the surface. kyle and i were tripping….
if i didn’t have my video camera yesterday, i would have kicked myself in the ass!! nobody would believe me. i’m using a fisheye gopro hero HD that is mounted on my head so imagine how close this bird is to my face. i could have grabbed this little bird. i’m still tripping out…
we’re out about 10 miles or 16 kilometers out at sea in the deep blue. it was us, the sharks, and the birds. check out the birds trying to eat kyle’s fish. haha…
on our second to the last dive, a big tiger shark came by to check us out. i dive down to try to video it and guess what? my battery dies… again? it came pretty close to me and if you don’t know, tiger sharks attack and killed many of surfers in hawaii. i looked back and kyle was on the boat. then the shark disappears…. that’s freakin scary because i don’t have eyes on the back of my head… so we get out, drive the boat to a different spot, and dive again. yeah, sharks can’t swim far… it’s called… free dive denial…
well, too tired to make the full video so check this teaser out for now. enjoy!!!
