“Give a man a fish and you will feed him for a day; teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime.”
today was just one of those days. had 2 extra spots on Mayuki so called Joshua and Seth. they just got back from Equador so i’m sure they wanted to get into the water. not to surf, but to fish and dive.
i just customized my mask to hook up a camera on the top. i haven’t done it in a while and was really looking forward to the photos and video. so far, so good. in fact, so excellent!
Uncle James teaching Seth how to set up his fishing pole. we call it “passing it down.”
then Uncle Kyle teaching the kids too. pretty much passing down experience and knowledge to the kids is what hawaii is all about.
then we load up Mayuki with our gear, lots of gear.
first test shot with my camera. perfect! the conditions were probably the most dangerous i’ve ever been out in the open ocean. if it was any other boat, it would have sank today. 8′ open ocean swells with some breaking into the boat. it was the kids first blue water experience and i’m glad i took them out to the worst conditions ever. anything after this is going to be easy for them.
i’m testing out my gun and line. i want to make sure i can dive deep enough so my line doesn’t hinder my decent. i went down 70′ with ease and i felt like staying down there and meditating. just so relaxing! look how small everybody looks. haha.
then Mr. Shark decided to give us a visit. these galapagos sharks can get aggressive. i just love to dive down into their world and look into their eye. just pure beauty!
no, i’m not even thinking about spearing him, i’m just keeping him away so he cannot bite off my head.
then we went fishing. these kids are so funny. just watching them trying to figure things out makes me remember myself when i was their age. i’m sure they will be bringing home fresh dinners for years to come.
i love my nephews. they are turning out to be very respectful young men. just enjoying life and soaking in everything. can’t wait to take them again!
then i took the girls to the pool this afternoon. after we had a wonderful dinner and great time. they were in the back seat saying phrases. one stuck out was:
“DON’T WAIT FOR THE PERFECT MOMENT
TAKE THE MOMENT AND MAKE IT PERFECT!”
this is exactly what i did today and will do everyday.
i will make every moment as perfect as i can!
