yesterday was great! got to show satoko-san the other side of hawaii. surf for 2 hours, drove around half the island, standup paddle waikiki, then tested out a 4 man canoe tony has down at the beach. a new hobby? ummm… i’m going down there again and going to try to surf a wave with it. you better get out of my way because that thing is big. yippie!!!!
second of all, want to thank all you divers for checking out my blog. yes, i’m trying to post more photos and vids of diving stuff but trying to keep this blog balanced. and also trying to keep my secret diving spots secret. for all of you who ask me where i dive, never mind. for all of you who want to try to dive in hawaii, go for it. if you look good, you will find fish. it just takes time and patience. i’m working on a video of the last ulua i speared. i knew he was home so i grabbed my cam and you will see exactly what i seen through my eyes. no bullshit editing…
if you find an ulua or GT house, there is usually 2 holes. an entrance and an exit. most of the times, they will run out the same place so it’s best to get one hole while your dive buddy gets the other. wow, that sounds pretty sukebe… haha.. as for this hole, i’ve been mapping it out for a while and i know exactly when to drop down, and exactly what the fish will do. instead of looking in the hole, i drop on the backside of the entrance, hide, and lay on the bottom. i throw up a little sand, then here the come because they think i’m a tako. i get one shot and that’s it because once they see that i’m not a big tako, they run!
here i am waiting on the side of the hole aiming my gun. i know there are 8-10 of them in there so i wait for the big one. i aim for the brain, take the shot, grab the fish, swim up with it, throw it in the boat, go home, and eat sashimi. pretty long process but precise. if your a beginner diver or an expert diver that wants to spear an ulua, this is the hole. it’s 8′ deep and if you let me draw you a map on the hole, and how to approach it, you can spear an ulua with your eyes closed. it’s that easy….
full video coming soon. i just have to edit out the mountains and background of the spot so nobody will find it. this is my golden ulua hole… stay tuned…
