good evening. after all the hype of the eddie contest, quiksilver called it off at 9am this morning. the funny thing is that a lot of people knew yesterday at 5pm when the buoy dropped that the contest will be off. hey, quiksilver isn’t a billion dollar company for nothing. even thought they knew it wasn’t going to be on, the milked it to the last minute keeping the whole world on their feet. great marketing and if i was the quiksilver marketing manager, i would say that it will possible be ON tomorrow too!! haha…
anyway, while the focus was on the north shore, everybody forgot about the west side. yeah, everybody! besides the locals, there were 5 smart japanese that took the 1 hour drive from the north shore….. matchi, satoshi, kenji, ryota, and shun. i was thinking of shooting waimea bay but thought, “why go there and compete with 500 other photographers for the same photo? that’s not for me….”
shun murakami was surfing good today! seen a really nice tail reverse he pulled off. he’s taking it to another level and i’m liking that!
ryota is also stepping it up. big airs from a little kid…
kenji shot waimea bay in the morning, then shot on the west side right after. great movement kenji. now hurry up and send me the photos!!!!
matchi is like the kids godfather. without him the kids will be lost….

seth moniz got the wave of the day. he took off, got a long long barrel, came out, and did 2 big turns. a perfect 10 point ride!
i wonder if these tourist thought this was waimea bay? haha…
