no this is not waimea bay, this is Maverick’s in california last saturday. the good news is the waves were going off. the bad news is that a kid by the name of Jacob Trette got sucked over the falls and got held underwater by 2 waves. he was floating face down and is now in the hospital in a coma. big waves is no joke. if you surf it, be prepared to die at any moment. the best do. i hope the kid makes it….
in america, we have the best rescue and medical service in the world. if this were to happen in another country, no chance….
other big wave news. can you believe a guy by the name of Mark Visser surfed Jaws on maui at 2am? yes, in pitch dark! the first night rider and it was all captured by photographer Erik Aeder. they also had a helicopter flying in the dark filming the whole thing. big wave surfing is crazy!!! this is probably the most craziest thing in surfing i’ve ever seen. what’s next???? check out the video….
