it was yasu’s first time seeing diamond head, it was his first time surfing, and it was his first time eating prime rib, it was his first time seeing whales, and it was his first time eating waiola shave ice. the first time is always the best….
kelia sent me a photo yesterday from her phone. they boys were going spearfishing in front of their house and when i seen this photo, 2 things hit me. first, i’m so happy to see the young boys going out to catch dinner. i believe free diving will connect them in a whole different way surfing does to the ocean. that’s something they will learn as more time is spent in the water. i’d never imagine the day the boys would be surfing with me at backdoor. that day has come. and now, i can’t wait for the day we are all out in the deep blue ocean taking turns spearing monster fish!!! and the second thing that hit me in the photo was looking at seth walking behind his older brothers carrying the buoy and stringer. it’s the little kid that gets left behind that gets hungry. it’s the little kid that gets left behind that learns more. and it’s the little kid that gets left behind that catches the biggest fish…..
**and last, i wanted to thank each and every one of you who sent me emails or messages about kelia when she was sick. she still is sick as she walks around with an IV in her arm for the next few weeks. but as sick as she can be, her spirit will never get down. kelia is a strong girl that is going to come back 5 x stronger than she was. thank you all for your love and support…. and i’ll leave you with this video sneak preview of her filming of the last music video with dai hirai and alexxx. you go kelia!!! thank you to Nanami-san for sending it to me this morning. it made my day! enjoy!
