i saw this photo in the hawaii travel magazine and this was voted the #1 photo of the year. what do you think?
i want to congratulate my big nephew Micah Moniz who lives out there on the north shore of hawaii. getting an ad in a surfing magazine in hawaii is a huge accomplishment. why? because there are so many good surfers and so much competition here in hawaii. i’m stoked to see my 230 lbs. plus nephew flying in the air looking fast and light. yeah Micah, uncle is very proud of you[:?????????:]
i’ve been going deep into emails with people from all around the world. got one from Saburo-san who lives and runs a surf camp in El Salvador. super cool guy. i researched it and that is one place i have to visit sometime soon, especially after seeing this photo. haha.. got more surf destinations i have my eye on so if you see me at the airport boarding an airplane sometime soon, don’t be surprised. i’ve been in hawaii since november and i’m craving a trip or two, or three. i still don’t know for sure where i’ll be going this year but all i know is that, THIS YEAR IS MY TRAVEL YEAR!!!
**by the way, i just got a phone call from micah who’s on the north shore. he told me that somebody tried to sell him a surfboard for $100. he recognized it as a RAGE surfboard shaped by uncle darren tatsuno. micah told the guy “hey, my brother is sponsored by RAGE. that board is stolen! give it to me now!!! micah took the board, called me up, and said, “uncle, i got a stolen board back for you.” that board happened to be stolen by pro surfer masaki harada last month. well, his whole car got stolen. micah got the board back, but didn’t know about the car until i told him. i’m sure their looking for the guy now. who needs the cops when you have the north shore posse? good job micah! i’m proud of you!
so hey masaki, i’ll go pick up your board and leave it at my house for you to grab next north shore season. just buy my nephew a ted’s pie or something. haha…
