woke up early, checked the wind, waves, and weather. today was the most ugliest day, and most dangerous day to go free diving. but you know what? we live dangerously and that’s the different. yeah, it was only our boat on the whole south coast diving today. the waves were big, the water was dirty, and the conditions was as bad as it gets. i didn’t tell that to the parents of these kids because i know it would worry them. but being the waterkids they are, i believe in them all the way….
till this day, i can’t sleep the night before i go diving. there is just too much adrenaline running through my blood that keep me imagining things. “will i get the big one? will i dive deep? sharks? whales?” so many things running through my mind. the boys are pretty much hooked on diving now and i’m super stoked on that. this is the second time i’m taking them on my boat for a real free dive day. i bet they couldn’t sleep last night. and tonight too because of all the action today. the boys did a great job and it was team work to put all these fish into the cooler. i just hope they don’t start calling me every single day to go diving……
every kid will have their own version on what happened today. i’m sure you will hear it all. but the one story i can say today is that the kids did a great job. just from the last time i took them diving, i can see that they are getting comfortable in the water. that’s key to big wave surfing. the only thing i didn’t tell them today was that i took them to the most shark infested waters on the island. tiger shark country. why do you think there is so much fish out there? haha… josh moniz holding the prize….
diving is a team effort. we dive together, we eat together, and we clean up together. i want these kids to understand that diving is not an individual sport. your dive buddy is not only your best friend, your dive buddy is your life saver. in mother nature, you never know what will happen so if you plan to dive, make sure you go with somebody that will risk their life for yours. dive safe!
