The situation regarding the Fukushima nuclear plant remains serious. We strongly encourage you to understand the facts about how to protect your family.
The United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), the Department of Energy, and other technical experts in the U.S. Government have reviewed the scientific and technical information they have collected from assets in country, as well as what the Government of Japan has disseminated. Consistent with the NRC guidelines that would apply to such a situation in the United States, we continue recommending, as a precaution, that U.S. citizens within 50 miles (80 kilometers) of the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant evacuate the area or take shelter indoors, if safe evacuation is not practical.
U.S. citizens should defer non-essential travel to the following regions: Tokyo (Tokyo Capital Region), Yokohama (Kanagawa Prefecture), and the prefectures of Akita, Aomori, Chiba, Fukushima, Gunma, Ibaraki, Iwate, Miyagi, Nagano, Niigata, Saitama, Shizuoka, Tochigi, Yamagata, and Yamanashi.
**what do i think? this is the travel warning from the United States of America. there’s no bull! the japanese government is still saying that only people in the 20km radius have to evacuate. america is saying in the 80km radius should evacuate. who do you believe? for me, i believe america. why? because i’d rather be safe than sorry. i bought some Iodine tablets and if you live ANYWHERE in japan now, i’d recommend you getting some too. because once the government says to take it, you better have it in your pocket. and if you don’t have it at that time, japan will go into a panic and you will never able to find a single tablet anywhere. i’m not trying to scare you, but the guy at the pharmacy scared me today when i went to buy it so i’m just passing on the information….
**i heard from lots of people japan that they need water, gas, underpants, socks, and batteries. i’m going to costco tomorrow to load up on as much as i can take. the more i can take from hawaii, the more supply they will have in japan. and if you are living in japan and want to donate things, please contact me. as things are trying to get better, this nuclear problem is making things worst. let’s all work together to put hope in the hands of the japanese…. thank you.
