for surfers, checking into the airport is a nightmare. you just don’t know how much they will charge you for your boards. especially in japan, expect to pay top money, sometimes more than the surfboards are worth. in this case, i used delta airlines. $200 per surfboard is pretty outrageous, but for a young kid that needs magic boards to make it to the top, that’s a small price to pay i guess.
seth and tony came right away to pick up the boards. contest season is officially started with the Hawaii State Championships going on right now. this year is going to be a busy one and i can’t wait to see the results.
when seth moniz was 7 years old, i knew he was going to be a champion someday. he’s only 13 years old now and has many championship titles under his belt. nobody is on a winning streak and the only way he can be stopped is by not showing up for his heat.
these 2 boards went hand to hand to hand to hand. from shaper matchi, to tssc owner yassan, to me, to seth. a lot of love along the way and hopefully these 2 boards will take him to the top all summer long.
when seth came over the other day, i was happy and sad. happy that he is pursuing his dreams, but sad that i can’t hug and squeeze my little nephew anymore. he’s getting too big for that.
