From Hawaii with LOVE…

we met this fisherman who told us his story on what happened on march
11, 2011.
the earthquake hits, and like all fisherman who have their own boats,
they all run to their boats and speed out to sea to protect it from the
predicted 1 meter (3′) tsunami that was about to come. little did this
fisherman know that the tsunami that actually hit was 20 meters (60′)
high. he returned 2 days later to find his house, wife, and son
missing. these are his 2 daughters that still think mommy and brother
will be coming home as their bodies still have yet to be found. i’ve
seen some sad faces in my life but nothing as sad as i seen on these two
little girls faces. i couldn’t look at them in the eyes because i would
have broke down in tears. the father is strong and will treasure these
two girls for the rest of his life. tshirts from hawaii, fresh cookies
from hawaii, and somebody from hawaii passing it out to these little
girls meant a lot to the father. he kept on saying to me “thank you for
coming.” what is a man like myself supposed to say back? i’m still
lost for words. and my heart is still aching for these two little
girls. i hope next time i have the courage to put a smile on their faces.
i want to thank everybody in hawaii again for donating time, money, and
supplies. this is where it’s going, and this is what we do. you are
all doing a great thing. after this is all done, i think i have to
check myself into a mental hospital and have somebody help me get all
these emotions off my mind. it’s hard to come back to a warm house with
warm food and think about the people suffering and waiting for loved
ones to come back. please keep on supporting japan.
