last night i fell asleep before 8pm. then woke up this morning at 7:40am. that was the best sleep i’ve had in 10 years! i had so many things to do today but the main was to fill up gas. it was pretty much last minute but we decided to do some exploring too.
swam in the ocean until the sun set. and like always, seeing some amazing things. the water was so perfect so we decided to throw out the poles in the dark. thinking it would be a bonus for the day if we get lucky and catch something. but deep down inside, i thought “no way.”
then once again, lady luck strikes! the pole starts to bend and the fish is on!
when it comes to fishing, some people are lucky, and some people aren’t. Yuko-chan is super lucky as she caught over 30 fish today, including this prized “awa” or better known as “Ladyfish.” next time i go trolling for ahi’s, i’m taking Lady Luck Yuko-chan along! and i’m sure we will catch something.
the best way to eat this fish is making fishcake. so good!
i see some kumu’s so i take a drop. i wait on the bottom patiently, then i kick my leg down to make my body more flat on the ocean floor. i feel 30 needles poke my leg! i scream 40′ down. i look at my leg and i see long sea urchin spines sticking out about 5″. my right leg is in shock so i kick up slowly with the left. i reach the surface, take a deep breath, and scream! itaaaaaai! i pull out the needles but the damage is done. there are lots of spines burning inside my leg. it’s swollen now and i’m not sure how it will be tomorrow. but you know what? it was worth the experience we had today and i wouldn’t change a thing. no pain, no gain. good night
