it’s amazing how everything can fall into place. 2 months ago, Carter and I were sitting at a bar down my street talking about traveling and stuff. i told him, “if the timing happens, let’s do it.” and the timing couldn’t have been any better. yes, there were supposed to be 4 of us friends, then one couldn’t come, then another couldn’t come. Carter and I decided on the day before we left, “let’s just go.” nothing planned, just going with the flow. wave forecast was looking terrible but i kept on thinking positive like usual. just to go travel to a place in the philippines i’ve never been before was exciting. i told myself that i won’t go anywhere i’ve already been. so this trip is like brand new for me, and super brand new for Carter. no expectations as we took the journey into the unknown. woke up the next morning after we arrived and made the decision. took lots of money to get here and lots of time, but in the end, it’s always worth it. if we surf some knee high waves, that’s good enough. anything better will be a bonus.
and now that i’m getting ready to make the long journey back to hawaii. i’m thinking about what happened. it really feels like a dream. can’t be real right? his incredible wave we surfed for the first time. it’s like we came here and put another surf spot on the map. the waves weren’t supposed to be this good, but it was. some of the thickest and perfect barrels i’ve ever seen. and no, we don’t even have a wave like this in hawaii. this spot was magical and the magic let us in. we are happy, we are satisfied, and we are content as far as the waves goes. and to make it even better, the friends we made along the way. the things we learned about each other along the way. all experiences that will go down in our personal book of surfing. i worked my ass off everyday from the start of this year so i can play my ass off at times like this. i’m fresh, i’m reset, and i’m ready to work my ass off again every single day because i can see another trip forming very soon. and i already know where that destination will be. so if all the stars align again, it will happen very shortly and i’m already starting to get excited. want to thank everybody in the philippines that we’ve crossed paths with, i would like to thank you for sharing your waves, culture, and friendships. thank you from 2 junior high school surf buddies that always dreamt big. aloha.
