Out of an abundance of caution, we continue to recommend that U.S. citizens avoid travel to destinations within the 50-mile (80-kilometer) evacuation zone of the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Plant. U.S. citizens who are still within this zone should evacuate or shelter in place.
**here’s what i think. as the world thinks that everything is safe and normal in japan, things are still bad, even worst than before. the nuclear plant is still out of control after 3 months of leaking radiation into the air, ground, and water. aftershocks happen on a daily basis. debris still piled up in villages as if the tsunami hit just yesterday. i get emails everyday of friends and others asking me if it’s safe to go to japan. it depends. is it safe to go into the ocean. it depends.
if you ask the american government, they will tell you to evacuate 50-miles or 80 kilometers from the troubled nuclear plant. if you ask the japanese government, they will tell you to evacuate 12-miles or 20-kilometers from the plant. who do you believe? well, since the american government isn’t bias and have the responsibility to protect it’s citizens, i believe the american government on this one. they’ve been saying to evacuate if your within the 80 kilometer zone since march 11th. and driving through iitate last month looking at my geiger counter beeping at high warning levels. and guess what? that’s over 40 kilometers away from the nuclear plant. people still living there since march 11th? to me, that’s crazy!
things are far from over in japan. you drive by one city and everything looks normal. then you turn the corner to another city and it looks like a bomb was dropped on it. please don’t forget about japan, please support japan, and please pray for japan.
