went over to visit Grandpa Fukunaga. genki as ever!
my grandpa is 97 years old! very healthy and always making me laugh. grandpa told me once he turns 100 years old, he said he’s had enough. he really misses grandma, who was his first and only love of his life.
omg, this is the first time i saw a photo of my great grandparents. omg, i was freaking out! makes me feel so japanese and i love it. this is my Grandpa’s parents. first generation japanese from Kumamoto that came to hawaii on a boat. they worked hard on the plantation fields and sent their paychecks back to japan for their parents. the first generation japanese in hawaii were the hardest workers.
and this is my Grandma’s parents. photo taken in 1946, right after the WW2. so hey, i’m sure i have some relatives living in japan right now that i have never met before. and someday i would love to meet them.
when i was leaving, Grandpa said “hey, Grandma would scold you if she saw you driving that.” i told him “i know.” haha. as i drove home, the words my Grandpa always tells me “hey, you enjoy your life ok” stuck in my mind. and this is one of the huge reasons why i’m enjoying my life. i’m sure he’s happy about that.
